2025 Trustee Vacancy Application
Are you interested in being a School Board Trustee? Call for Applications – Amherstburg/LaSalle and Leamington/Pelee Island
The Greater Essex County District School Board is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Public School Trustees for two vacancies: one representing Amherstburg/LaSalle and the other representing Leamington/Pelee Island.
In order to be eligible, candidates must be:
- At least 18 years of age;
- A Canadian citizen;
- A resident in the region of the Greater Essex County District School Board;
- A designated English-language public school board supporter;
- Qualified to vote for members of the GECDSB; and
- Not disqualified by any legislation from holding the office of trustee.

A Candidate Information Package may be picked up at the main reception desk of the Greater Essex County District School Board Administration Building, at 451 Park Street West during regular business hours (8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday).
To be considered for the position, interested persons must submit an application which includes:
- A completed Notice of Application form;
- A resume; and,
- A signed Declaration of Qualification for the office of trustee.
- Candidates should ensure qualifications with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation as well prior to submitting their application by calling 1-866-296-6722 or visiting their website.
- Upon receipt of an application (all 3 documents), staff will confirm residency and school support status with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). Those candidates whose qualifications cannot be confirmed by MPAC prior to the application deadline will be disqualified.

Signed applications must be received no later than 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
Applicants who do not meet the qualifications by the deadline will be disqualified.

Selected qualified candidates will be invited to an interview on Monday, December 15, 2025. The successful candidates will be sworn in at the Regular Board Meeting, Tuesday, December 16, 2025. The successful candidates will serve until the end of the current term - November 14, 2026.
